The songs on the CD move from laid-back greasy shuffles to funky rhythms to guitar-driven blues-rock. Guitarist/vocalist JD Optekar showcases his song-writing talents with tunes that pay tribute to the blues, Blues is Truth and Black Coffee; commentate on our current digital media-age, Is it Real; and visit the tried and true themes of passion, heartache, and love. Jared James Nichols, who appeared in the Earwig Documentary, Six Generations of Blues, lends his fretboard skills to the CD and his vocals on 3 tracks. Bob Noll (bass) and Jeff Oscarson (drums) anchor the rhythm section.

Strokeland recording artist, Tony Adamo, got a new perspective of Voice N’ Soul when his long time guitarist/producer, Jerry Stucker got down with it at Capitol Studios and Mastering, at the historic Capitol Records Building, Hollywood, California. He brought in the big fat funk jazz beat of Stephen 'Doc' Kupka (Tower of Power, Strokeland Records) and Neil Larsen (Diana Krall, B.B. King, Greg Allman) for Adamo’s cover of the Tower of Power classic, "What is Hip," written by Kupka and Emilio Castillo. The arrangement by Jerry Stucker with Adamo’s "good gracious that’s a whole lot of soul vocal and spoken hip word" is so far removed from the original, that Doc "dug the hell out of it."

The "What is Hip" line up: Mike Clark (drums), Bill Summers(percussion), Sandy Griffith (background vocals), Eddie Henderson (trumpet), Richie Goods (bass), Neil Larsen (organ), and Jerry Stucker (guitar). Eddie Henderson in the horn section and Doc Kupka (bari sax) is mo’ funk and groove than anyone can handle.

Following three months in the studio, in a quiet part of Paris free from all hubbub, this young international artist takes us on a musical journey, swinging for our delight from electro to pop-rock.

Often as composer and always as interpreter, Marina Tihvinskaya is truly international, singing with authority in several languages. In this extremely intimate album, English, Italian and French songs merrily follow each other as a hymn to the Europe which she loves to visit.

Marina's travels, encounters and feelings along the way are the muses which guide her creativity. They infuse the inspiration to find the ideal combination of words and melodies. Her artistic pursuit has been shaped by several prestigious influences: Madonna, Cher, Bryan Adams, Ricardo Fogli and Richard Marx are among her guiding lights. They have defined and nurtured her years as an apprentice in the art of music.

Music cradled Marina's young life from a very early age. Over the years, her love of music and singing grew and grew so that today it is her only passion, dominating her everyday life. Ten years studying piano, two years learning guitar, a fruitful transition to the American School of Modern Music and the Conservatoire of Paris's 9th arrondissement have brought Marina close to the greatest musicians, allowing her to test her musical skills on the big stages of Paris.

Marina Tihvinskaya is passionate and totally focused. She has fearlessly tackled all obstacles and is now embarking, with great maturity, on a solo career which promises a very bright future.
