2 SUNS

2 SUNS

Webpage: http://www.2sunsmusic.com
Location: Sedona, AZ, USA
Description: "MUSIC DEDICATED TO LOVE & PEACE" Socially conscious, Indie Rock, with fresh female vocals, amazing guitar layers, and awesome production.
Biography:

Throughout the years and in spite of trends and fashion, 2 SUNS have created heartfelt and hopeful rock n’ roll that has struck a chord in people searching for hope and inspiration instead of the cynicism and negativity of so much modern music. From the hard streets of New York City to the bucolic quiet of their current home in Sedona, Arizona, 2 SUNS have stayed true to their vision of what music can be, and on their new album, “Love Revolution”, their message of love and peace is more timely than ever. In fact, it seems as though the times may have finally caught up with them.

2 SUNS founding members Gina Donello (vocals) and Gary Bettum (guitar) see 2 SUNS as a shape-shifting band. The music translates well from an unplugged acoustic duo to a large arena style rock band, including bass, drums, percussion and keyboards. Both native New Yorkers, Gina and Gary had been the quintessential New York music people. Gina was given her first voice lesson by her great aunt who was a protégé of Enrico Caruso at the age of five. She also studied with world-renowned master coaches associated with the Metropolitan Opera and Lincoln Center and with additional study and training, she gained the ability to literally sing everything – Rock, Jazz, Opera, Cabaret, Classical Indian and more. More importantly, it gave her the confidence to effectively convey emotion no matter what the genre. Gary, who has been playing since the age of six, grew up playing in bands, but got his first big break when he worked at world famous Electric Lady studios in New York. Here, working with top professionals in the industy, he got incredible engineering and production training, as well as working with some of the world’s best musicians. He then earned a degree (on scholarship) in Jazz performance as well as completing the masters component in music technology at NYU.

It was in New York City that 2 SUNS had their first show in 1995. From the outset, the band was socially conscious and committed to uplifting people with their music. But they soon realized that they had to take their message elsewhere. As Gina explains, “One day in the car, it took us over two hours to cross the Brooklyn Bridge. And then the car overheated. We looked at each other and realized that we couldn’t do this anymore.” Sedona, Arizona became their new home, and immediately, the change in environment became an inspiration in and of itself. Gary says, “The introspection and creativity that we needed has happened so much easier out here.”

After settling in, the two opened a music school in Sedona (Gina gives voice instruction and Gary teaches guitar - they would eventually have Michelle Branch as one of their students), an operation that Gina describes as “one of our greatest satisfactions.” She continues, “Music is therapy and when they leave here, they leave lighter and less burdened.” Gina and Gary also continued writing and recording 2 SUNS music, and in 2002, their debut, self-title album was released.

Continuing to teach and play in their community, Gina and Gary began writing the next group of songs for 2 SUNS in 2004. To produce the album, they enlisted Lee Curreri, best known for his role in the film and TV series “Fame”. Gary says, “In his arrangement and production, he took the songs to another level. It was a dream come true.”

That next level is apparent from the first notes of “Love Revolution”. Gary and Gina call the album “an hour which celebrates life”, and the music hearkens back to the sense of possibility present in the 60’s and 70’s, but with a modern sound, thanks to Curreri’s production.

“Love Revolution,” a track written in 1999, but revamped on the album, who’s anthemic feel sums up the band’s intention both musically and spiritually. “Beyond The Veil” expands the band’s musical range into world music – in its shimmering and cinematic beauty. It’s one of those tracks that calls for being in a film or television show. “13th Hour” is another musical u-turn - delving into pop/electronica, its reference to ‘sweet Rome falling’ brings to mind the current perilous state of affairs in this country. As Gina states, “We do have a darker side, but we choose to be positive. Yes, we see certain things falling, but it’s fine. Our humanity is just coming into adulthood. And one thing is true – people are clamoring for change.”

2 SUNS appeal goes beyond genre and age. As they’ve begun playing the Pacific Northwest and Northern California, they’ve seen their appeal broaden beyond their wildest imagination: “We’ve found our audience to go from pre-teens to sixty-something’s,” Gary notes with a smile. “We just want to keep getting ourselves out there. That’s how they find you.”

With Love Revolution, 2 SUNS have continued to put themselves out there. And now that hope is more than just a buzzword, the social consciousness of their music is ready for a new and expanded audience. But as Gina says, they’ve always kept their mission simple. “We just keep the love we have for our art as our main intention,” she concludes. “It’s the best way we can show up as artists, and as human beings in the world.”

2 SUNS single, “Love Revolution”, is off of their new CD with the same title. “It’s all about what’s going on in the world - the next generation of hippies and love and peace.” This song takes a look at how war is outdated but love never goes out of style. The entire CD reflects different aspects of social issues and consciousness. Being able to express yourself through a world accepted format (musically) is a profound message in itself.

2 SUNS music is powerful, filled with passion and dedication, with a message for all of us. It’s the freedom that you feel when you sing what you believe in. Reminds me of Woodstock days, Vietnam and how we braved the elements and stood up against our commanders to express how we feel about these disastrous and historical events. Yes, those hippy days haven’t left us. In fact, these issues are stronger than ever and through the music of 2 SUNS, we are still able to voice opinions and stand up for what we believe in. Bravo to 2 SUNS for keeping this format alive and strong.

True to their intent, 2 SUNS mix of vocals, both masculine and feminine, along with the rhythm, the message, the musical talent and that infamous beat, so vivid in my mind’s eye, truly captured the feelings of yester year and today.

In 2002, they released a self-titled, “2 SUNS”. Their newest CD, “Love Revolution” is at a completely different level than their first. 2 SUNS has grown technically, spiritually and along with wisdom, created this wondrous CD for all to experience.

2 SUNS have been asked to play at Earthdance 2009 in Phoenix, Arizona. This is a worldwide event where thousands of people attend each event all over the world. The time is now to experience 2 SUNS profound message with our neighbors all over the world. Through their music, their message will provide that vehicle to reflect about things that change our way of thinking, our environment, our life and the world.

Totem Artists Recording Artist T. J. Doyle Gives Free Download of 'Earth Is Crying' During April 2010 for Earth Day

New Website Has An Online Store Where The Song "Earth Is Crying" Can Be Downloaded For Free

Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) March 31, 2010 -- New Los Angeles area recording artist, T. J. Doyle http://www.tjdoyle.net whose debut album “One True Thing” was released last fall, is giving his song “Earth Is Crying” to fans as a free download during April for Earth Day from his new website and online store.

In his song “Earth Is Crying”, Doyle recognizes that even the smallest changes in temperature can affect the things we take for granted, such as, sustainable temperatures, fresh air, and sustenance in the form of food for
millions that depend on our planet for life.

“’Earth Is Crying’ helps to change the dialogue about our climate from political to one of love for our planet and gratitude for her life giving sustenance, “says T. J. Doyle, adding “She is crying for our love and needs it from us all.”

After assembling a group with a lush musical landscape of experience, and recording with Grammy award winning mixer Tom Weir, Doyle's sound is distinct in its capacity to comfortably weave different instruments and sounds together to create soothing, yet powerful melodies. His voice and emotion is gentle with starkly honest content, with the potential of having fans singing along in their cars to every song.

While Doyle writes the music and lyrics himself, his supporting cast already has a variety of accolades from playing with major musical acts. Guitarist Tim Pierce recorded with classic rock legends Bruce Springsteen and Eric Clapton, while other guitarist Bruno Coon works with Randy Newman on film scores. David Sutton pulls double duty on the bass and cello, bringing his experience from playing with Lucinda Williams. Rock Deadrick handles the drums and percussion, and his time spent with Ziggy Marley can be heard in many of their upbeat
songs. Carina Round, a talented emerging solo artist provides beautiful background vocals.

The new website, designed by Intersection Online in Deerfield Beach, Florida, features information about T. J. Doyle and his music, a page to preview and purchase songs individually as a digital download, or the album as a
physical CD. Visitors to Doyle’s website can click on an Earth Day Download banner to be directed to where to download Earth Is Crying for free during April.
